Often it is hard to know which skills you should learn to start your career in tech. One of the more challenging paths is that of a CCNA. The CCNA is a certification that proves proficiency in networking concepts and hardware. One of the most sought-after skills is networking. It’s challenging, hard, rewarding, and yet invaluable as a skill. Every business requires the internet, and every small business needs a network. Much like CompTIA exams, Cisco offers many certifications that show potential employers who have put in the work to be considered a certified network technician. As the gold standard for showing skill in networking, the CCNA is a significant certification to recognize.
The CCNA is a rather basic level in regards to networking as it is such a broad concept. Being a certified Network Associate can begin you on the path toward several rewarding and high paying jobs. Networking is not easy though. It takes a lot of hands-on experience and study. Knowing which test to even can be confusing for people.
What Is It?
There are many different certifications offered by Cisco that cover a broad spectrum of skills and concepts. For those who want to get a great foundational course though, we recommend taking the 200-125 Exam.
This exam includes quite a bit of introductory networking and provides an excellent platform for increasing in skill. While networking can be intimidating, with a study and preparation, you can be certified in a matter of weeks. Given, this path is not for the wavering. If you want to be CCNA certified in a couple of weeks, you need to study, watch videos, and train for a couple of hours a day.

Pick One of the 9 Certifications:
CCNA has nine subcategories. Routing and Switching are the best “overall” beginning certificate though for Cisco work. For the sake of this process, we assume that CCNA R&S is the certification that you are pursuing. Many of the concepts will still take over between subcategories as well, so do not be afraid to pick one and commit to it.
One Exam Vs. Two
There are two ways to get CCNA Certified through Routing and Switching. You can take two exams separately or take a combined exam. Although of whether you split the test up or take both tests at once, the questions and content would be the same. It’s necessary to know how you want to take the test though as you can study half the concepts for one week and test then switch and test again or study everything for two weeks and test.
Step 1: Schedule the Exam Two Weeks Before You Plan to Start Studying
